Mount Eden Guest House is a haven for the discerning traveller. In the leafy suburb of Zwaanswyk, in the Constantia valley, the area offers a wide variety of attractions and activities. Nestled in a quiet cul de sac on the mountain slopes below Elephant’s Eye, the guest house stands on one acre of land neighbouring the Tokai forest and with a panoramic view of False Bay and the Hottentot’s Holland mountains in the distance.
The mountain range forms part of the Table Mountain National Park, which extends from Cape Town through to Cape Point. Silvermine nature reserve, renowned for its fynbos which is unique to the Cape floral kingdom, borders onto Zwaanswyk.
Close to the Constantia wine route, the guest house is surrounded by award winning Cape wine farms, notably Steenberg, Buitenverwachting and Uitsig. For the gourmet diner, the area boasts some of the finest restaurants in Cape Town.
A rock pool and water feature, provide the central focus to the circular driveway and parking for another 6 vehicles is available. A dining room with an 8 seater handcrafted teak dining table and large sideboard is used to serve breakfast on cooler days. An african rosewood bar adds the finishing touch to the dining area.
The lounge has a jetmaster fireplace and plasma TV, PVR decoder and surround sound built into a teak wall unit. This formal lounge leads out onto a thatch covered, patio with braai and dining area. The patio overlooks the large free form swimming pool and heated jacuzzi, which are enclosed by a wall to ensure maximum privacy.
Mount Eden is an exclusive, luxury guest house with limited, yet spacious accommodation. Three generously proportioned, themed suites are available on a bed and breakfast rate.
The two main suites are fully air conditioned (heating and cooling) and also have ceiling fans. All bathrooms have shower and bath. Each suite has a fully stocked bar fridge (for own account) with tea and coffee making facilities, as well as a safe to store valuables.
flagship suite, occupying around 100sq metres on the top floor of a private section of the house, with separate entrance. The theme of the suite is based on the artefacts that were collected by the family on trips to Egypt.
On the ground floor of the house and comprises a sitting room and bedroom, study and bathroom with large oval bath and shower. Privacy is ensured with a separate entrance at the end of the passageway.
The Suite occupies pride of place at Mount Eden with distant views of False Bay and the Hottentot’s Holland mountain range. The suite has double sliding doors, which open onto a long balcony where one can sit and enjoy the beautiful views on a summer’s day.
A swimming pool and jacuzzi are available to guests. DSTV and a wi fi internet connection are available throughout the house. There is a small study, which can be used as an office, with printing and faxing facilities available. The main office is occupied from 8am to 5pm weekdays.
