David and Samantha Stevens, owners of Mavela Game Lodge
, and Peter and Margie Butland, the managers, are proud to welcome you to their new lodge.
The new lodge is sited where the old hunting lodge stood but the focus is very different. David, an avid birder, is determined to make this a favoured destination for birding enthusiasts, nature lovers and game watchers alike. With the popularity of Zululand as a prime birding destination, a lodge specialising in the birdlife of the region is bound to be popular.
The new lodge has a thatched roof depicting a diving raptor in flight. A porte cochere leads to a large reception and dining area and on to an upper game viewing deck overlooking a waterhole and the valleys and hills in the South West of the Reserve.
There is the added attraction of a swimming pool and sundeck for sunny days. An open boma welcomes guests to a fireside evening under the stars.
Zululand Rhino Reserve, a leader in conservation and part of the Black Rhino Range Expansion Project is increasingly renowned as a Big Five reserve in northern Zululand.
