Kings Walden Garden Manor was born of great romantic spirit. It was here in the 1930s that a beautiful young woman stood spellbound at the mountain views and said to the man beside her: I never want to leave. He was the owner of the land and the view. Marry me, he replied, and you will never have to.

Many, many years later, on the night she died here, lightning struck the enormous blue gum tree at the viewpoint. It is still standing today, bone-white and dramatic, a symbol of Kings Walden Garden Manors magical romantic spirit and history.

Billy and Minette Mckechnie are your hosts at Kings Walden. Having managed hotels in the Okavango Delta and having been in the hospitality industry for many years, they love to share their passion of people, good food and Africa with you. They will be available at any time but spend time at Kings Walden in the morning and in the evening. The afternoon is spend looking for the freshest produce for that days meal.

Kings Waldens dcor is classic and elegant with a modern African touch. Our bathrooms are spacious and sexy, with big showers and baths made for two. Each room leads onto the gardens, where there is a large swimming pool for your pleasure. Paths lead to shaded spots in the garden where you can escape with a book or a lover.

As the evening falls enjoy a glass of wine on the verandah overlooking the mountains, or linger over a drink in our stylish lounge.

Kings Waldens chef Billy McKechnie has created a delicious contemporary fusion menu that combines imported specialities and fresh, local organic produce.

His meals are made with passion and presented with pride. Enjoy gentle breakfasts overlooking the mountains, experience memorable tastes and moments in the spacious dining room, lit by candles and romance.

By night you can take your pick from an excellent menu that includes dishes such as French rack of lamb, tagliata di manzo (an Italian sliced steak dish), slow-cooked lamb shanks, seared tuna and a range of decadent desserts. And of course, there is an exciting South African wine list.

McKechnie has years of experience as a restauranteur and chef. He trained at Centurion International Hotel School before moving onto becoming food and beverage manager at the well-known and much loved.
