Karoo Cottage
The Cottage
Karoo Cottage is a small air conditioned single cottage with an en-suite shower room (shower, basin, loo) and adjoining kitchen (full size fridge with freezer, small microwave, 2-plate stove, sink etc). The bed/living room is carpeted and consists of 1 double bed, and 1 single bed (NB: both beds are in the same room and both are fitted with electric blankets in winter), table & 4 chairs, plus other small furnishings.

The cottage is fully equipped for self-catering. Breakfast is by prior arrangement and options include light or self-cook ingredients that are place in the cottage for your use. A cooked breakfast can be ordered, and will be delivered to the cottage to be enjoyed at the small dining table in the main living/bed room.

As Loxton is somewhat isolated in terms of accessibility to shops, meals must be arranged in advance. If you prefer to self-cater - we suggest that you bring your food along, as there are only the barest of essentials available in Loxton`s two tiny general dealers.

In summer, the air-conditioner keeps the cottage cool; there`s an old-fashioned mosquito screen door; and a mosquito net on the double bed. In winter, the air-conditioner heats the cottage.

Parking is alongside the cottage beneath a shade-net carport. The car gate is lockable.

There is a small stone braai at the rear of the cottage in the garden. Braai wood and blitz can be bought on the premises, and if you pre-order we’ll supply braai packs.

Come and enjoy our tranquillity and vast open spaces, and discover true peace of mind.

Regrettably, no children under 12.

Come and experience the real Karoo in the quaint village of Loxton. Loxton is a delightful hamlet situated beneath a canopy of trees in the heart of the Karoo.

This is not a destination that speaks of bright lights, but rather of bright stars. Thanks to no light or air pollution, we have crystal clear night skies and visitors have reported seeing up to twenty satellites in an evening`s stargazing.

The village is flat and offers pleasant walks to view its old Cape vernacular architecture. There are surrounding rocky hills (koppies)with never-ending views across the plains, and idyllic mountain biking back roads leading to the town. The streets are lined with trees, some 100+ years old, and the pear trees burst into white blossom.

Wonderfull little cottage. Very quiet and peacefull and we wished that we could have stayed another night or two. Steve & Brent have added a nice personal touch to everything.

Baie beïndruk. Heerlik gebly!
