Redefining the meaning of private, Hopewell Private Game Reserve is an exclusive hideaway where unspoil nature meets pure African luxury, and guests reconnect with nature at their own pace.

This private game reserve in South Africas beautiful Eastern Cape hosts up to 12 guests in stylish, secluded suites with sweeping views over a reclaimed Eden. Waking up to the sounds and sights of the African bush, sun downers above the elephants favourite watering hole, relaxing in a secluded private pool overlooking the bush, and sumptuous dinners under the stars provide the memories that linger long after your stay at Hopewell.

Hopewell offers guests an amazing experience. Passionate and experienced rangers guide our guests through the rolling landscape, ever willing to stop and discuss plants, insects, birds and game spotted along the way.

Up close and personal interaction with cheetah is a highlight of this unique wildlife experience. Guests are likely to encounter our herd of elephant, along with cheetah, leopard, hippo, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, antelope and other indigenous species carefully introduced to maintain a balanced eco-system.

Accommodation at Hopewell Private Game Reserve:

This is truly the perfect honeymoon destination.

Activities:

Activities available on the reserve range from game drives and nature walks, bird watching from three hides situated around the property, sundowners in a tree house or simply relax at your own pool or at the lodge where friendly staff are ready to attend to your every need.

In the surrounding areas you will find an abundance of activities to enrich your stay these include the Indian Ocean resorts and magnificent beaches of Kenton-on-Sea and Port Alfred.

The Addo Elephant park lies a mere 35 minutes away or you could try your hand at horseback riding, boating, fishing, whale watching and trail hiking to name a few. For those seeking a variety of treatments, a massage therapist /beautician can be arranged with prior notice.

For the enthusiastic golfer the Royal Port Alfred and (Gary Player designed) Fish River Sun Golf Courses are within a hours drive away. The Hopewell staff can assist in booking and transport arrangements and offer guidance to the best activity to suit individuals, groups or family.

Clothing and Accessories:

Jackets are necessary for the game drives especially if the weather is cool.

Health and Climate:

Summer (October to March): The Eastern Cape has a warm summer climate, but the deep shade of the bush and sometimes breezy weather means layered clothing and a wind-breaker are recommended for game drives. For the heat of the day and balmy summer evenings, bring lightweight summer clothing and beachwear.

Winter (April to September): Mornings and late afternoon/evenings are chilly, but temperatures in the bush often warm up during the day. We suggest layered, light clothing for daytime and a warm insulated jacket for morning and evening game drives.

Remember to bring: Binoculars and camera, comfortable walking shoes, sunhats, sunglasses and sunscreen.
