Experience the days gone by of ostrich feathers and feather palaces at Foster`s Manor Bed & Breakfast - the embodiment of the ambiance of the era when the ostrich and its feathers reigned supreme in the Little Karoo.

The Manor was declared a national monument in 1974 and was restored to its former glory.

The Great British sandstone architect, Charles Bullock, was the creater of the building - his original plans and documents are displayed in the breakfast room of the Manor. J Foster, a local attorney, instructed Bullock to design a double storey mansion for him. Foster called this mansion "Rus in Urbe", formally known as Foster`s Folly - later renamed Foster`s Manor.

The Manor has 8 rooms, the character of which is a blend of the old and new. Every room has an en suite bathroom where one can relax in a French slipper bath. You can also enjoy a drink while watching television.

A stay in the manor`s honeymoon suite will be the crowning glory of your honeymoon!

The spacious interiors have been individually furnished with authentic collector's pieces from the early 1900s. All rooms are fitted with mini-bars, facilities for making coffee and tea, and TVs.

Guests can also roam the ground floor, which is decorated with photo reproductions of the feather boom era. From the Nursery Room to the Library Room, every detail reminds you of the glorious days when the farmers became overnight rich with the ostrich feathers.

Drinks can be enjoyed at the cozy bar, in the court yard, in the two gardens or in the privacy of your own verandah.

Foster's Manor offers to its guests a unique experience, after all Oudtshoorn is the world capital of the ostrich industry. Why not treat yourself and have an overnight in the one and only ostrich feather palace.
