Elephant Plains Game Lodge is situated in the 65,000 hectare Sabi Sand Wildtuin, which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park.

The lodge is situated on the dry Manyeleti riverbed and overlooks a permanent waterhole. Here you can see Africa`s Big Five, as well as other more rare predators such as the cheetah and wild dog. Also a wide variety of birds, reptiles and mammals.

The Lodge:
The main lodge houses the reception, dining room, bar/lounge, wine cellar, library and curio shop. The lodge layout caters for the discerning traveler, offering different types of accommodation to cater for a variety of needs.

The bar is an ideal place to relax and share experiences. Mealtimes are mouth-watering events complemented by carefully selected wines from the Lodge`s well-stocked cellar.

Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style in the dining room and evening meals are served around a fire in the boma. Each meal is prepared with exquisite care and this combined with the open-air setting, promise an unforgettable dining experience.

Adjacent to the swimming pool, the wooden deck offers spectacular views overlooking the waterhole and scenic plain.

Luxury Rooms:
The natural design and architecture of these six glass-fronted suites falls softly on the eye, decorated in warm, earthy tones they blend in superbly with their natural surroundings. These exclusive open-plan suites each have a lounge, double bedroom, en suite bathroom (inside/outside shower) and a private sun-deck that offers spectacular views over the riverbed. All luxury chalets feature air-conditioning, overhead fans, wood fires, mosquito nets and a safe.

Rondavels:
The lodge features five spacious appointed thatched rondavels tastefully decorated with an African theme. Every chalet has its own distinct character and comfortable charm, and looks out over the beautifully landscaped garden. All rondavels have en-suite bathrooms, overhead fans, air conditioning, mosquito nets and mini bars.

Honeymoon Suite:
The Manyeleti honeymoon suite provides for romantic elegance and the setting ensures privacy with a stunning view. This glass fronted suite has all the regular luxuries and also boasts a private splash pool and sala, ideal for a mid-morning nap.

African Spa:
The African Health Spa is just the place to go if you have the need to relax and unwind, or just feel like spoiling yourself. A wide variety of treatments are available to rejuvenate mind, body and soul while enjoying an awe inspiring view of the plain in front of the lodge.

Game Drives:
Your experienced game ranger and local Shangaan tracker are keen to share with you their extensive knowledge and love of the African bush - the highlight of your visit is the thrill of discovering wildlife from the safety of open vehicles.

The day starts with an early morning game drive, then after breakfast a bush walk gives you the opportunity to learn about the smaller wonders of the veld.

During the afternoon game drive you will stop at a carefully selected venue to enjoy a sun-downer whilst watching the sun set over the awe-inspiring wilderness, before continuing on a night drive using spotlights to look for nocturnal animals.

Clothing and Accessories:

Summer (September to April) is hot to very hot with temperatures ranging between 20 - 40 degrees Celsius and occasional rainfalls may occur. Protection from the sun is necessary.

Winter (May to August) is mild to warm and pleasant with temperatures ranging between 5 - 35 degrees Celsius.

Health and Climate:

Malaria precautions are necessary. All rooms have mosquito nets over the beds for additional sleeping comfort. However, an insect repellent and anti-malaria tablets are recommended.

Cancellation Policy:

- If cancellation of any booking or any part thereof is received 6 – 8 weeks, prior to arrival, the 50% non-refundable deposit will be forfeited.
- If a cancellation of any booking or any part thereof is received between 6 weeks and one month, prior to arrival, 75% of the total accommodation fee will be forfeited.
- If a cancellation of any booking or any part thereof is received within one month or less, prior to arrival, 100% of the total accommodation fee will be forfeited.

Directions:

Airports:
We have the airports of Eastgate (Hoedspruit), Skukuza and Nelspruit in close proximity with daily scheduled flights to/from Johannesburg.
Private airstrip - S24o44'38.9" E 31o28'30.5" and 1200m long.

By Car:
Take the N4 from JHB / Pretoria.
Bypass Witbank and Middelburg, continue onto Belfast.
Turn left onto the R540 past Dullstroom to Lydenburg.
From Lydenburg take the R36 to Origstad.
Pass through the JG Strijdom Tunnel.
From the tunnel continue for approx 27 km before turning right to go towards Klaserie.
Continue straight along the Klaserie road until you reach a sign pointing to Orpen & South African Activities College.
Turn left and continue on the R531 for about 30 km until you see the entrance to the South African Activities College on your left hand side . Immediately after the College you will see a small dirt track which you have to take right off the tar road.
Follow the map as indicated.

Arrival at the lodge should be scheduled between 12H00-14H00 to be in time for lunch as well as the afternoon game drive.
