De Oude Kraal Country Estate
In the heart of the Free State, lying snuggly just outside Bloemfontein, lies a beautifully restored old farmhouse, De Oude Kraal Country Estate.

Situated only 35 km to the south of Bloemfontein along the N1 highway, De Oude Kraal Country Estate is the perfect overnight stop for travelers to and from the Cape.

We offer you rest and tranquility after a long day's travel in luxury, romantic accommodation and spend a few days unwinding on the farm.

Adorned with family heirlooms and collectables, the homestead offers old world charm, whilst the exclusive bar and wine cellar provides a wide variety to satisfy all discerning guests.

The renowned Free State cuisine offers a gourmet dinner by candlelight, a hearty farm breakfast and is a culinary feast in all aspects.

A complimentary afternoon tea with cakes awaits you upon check-in.

Lounge in the sun, read a book from our in-house library and experience the peacefull park-like gardens under the bluegum trees. Explore the farm by horseback, footpaths, sundown tractor ride or enjoy one of our many other outdoor activities.

The Colonial Restaurant is situated in the original farmstead. The individual dining rooms all have open fireplaces and original antique furniture, some dating back to the early 1900's. Ambling through the old house you also get to experience the art work lovingly collected by the owners.

Come and relax in our bar and lounge, sip a sherry and watch the fire dance in the hearth before going through to dinner in the winter time.

In the summer you can enjoy an al fresco dinner under the ancient grape vines or alternatively on the front veranda overlooking the garden and fountain.

Good service, good wine, excellent food!

De Oude Kraal is one of the most beautiful places that my wife and I have ever stayed in. Words alone cannot describe the 5 star luxury set in the tranquillity of a Free State sheep farm. A place where you wish you could spend several days relaxing, chilling out and being pampered by Gerhard and Marie the hosts. We can't wait to return.
