Come and visit Chinderera Eco Lodge
situated in the coastal forest, just outside Isimangaliso Wetland Park not too far from Lake Makhawulani.
You might like to take a boat trip through the lake system, where you will pass the age-old local fish traps, that have been passed from father to son for generations. You can see hippos and a large variety of bird life including flamingos, cormorants, egrets and the famous African Fish Eagle, with its eerily haunting cry.
This is a true eco lodge which is powered by solar energy and has bore hole water. We work closely with the local communties, using their handmade crafts and locally sourced timber and reed.
Accommodation at Chinderera Eco Lodge:
The chalets are built under canvas roofing and are nestled beneath giant Umdoni and Acacia trees in the peaceful forest. At night you can hear the cry of the bushbabies, the calling of nightjars and owls. Hippos pass the lodge fence looking for food whilst you are sleeping peacefully, lulled by the sound of the surf.
During the day monkeys and squirels play in the trees and at certain times of the year there is an amazing variety of birds and butterflies, and not forgetting our other small friends, the dung beetles.
A timber frame under thatch Eco Lodge run complexly off the grid by solar power. Built for this sub tropical climate with an open air environment, with a rock pool, decks, fire pit, open air pool bar and bush cinema (under construction).
