Cape Vidal is a magnificent coastal resort set in a sheltered coastal bay in the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, with shallow pools and rock ledges for snorkeling, unspoiled beaches for walking and self-guided trails around the fascinating wetlands, in the rich coastal forest and on the shores of Lake Bhangazi.
Renowned for its sport fishing and snorkelling, this scenic coastal camp is situated on the north of the Eastern Shores area of the Wetland Park.
There is a relatively safe area for swimming, wildlife, especially birds, is abundant and self-guided trails enable visitors to see some of the surrounding wetlands and Lake Bhangazi.
On the same day one could see hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, elephants, whales on their northerly migration to Mocambique to calve, loggerhead and leatherback turtles in summer as they come onto the beaches to lay their eggs, dolphins, and a variety of water, forest or grassland birds.
The sheltered bay has a designated launch site for ski boats with excellent offshore angling, spear fishing, and snorkeling.
Facilities in the camp include a petrol station, interpretive centre, curio shop and superette.
This is a malaria area.

Clean accommodation. Friendly staff. We enjoyed a beautiful environment and weather. It was not overly populated at the time of our stay which was nice for us.

We had the time of our lives. To stay in luxury and have wildlife on our doorstep - brilliant. The best part was no TV or phones and for the first time we realized you don't need it to relax. With inquiries and problems you were helped immediately. We will visit again soon.

Definitely one of the best (if not THE best) reserves in SA. A pity there are no guided tours so one can experience it more "deeply". Also a pity there's no "gause" wire protection inside the windows to keep monkeys, mosquitoes and other kreepy craulies out. All in all a wonderful experience which I'd strongly recommend to anyone - the reserve must be the most beautiful of its kind on the planet!
